1.1 taracode CLI (Open Source)

taracode is fully open source and runs entirely on your local machine. The CLI does not collect, transmit, or store any data remotely. Specifically:

  • No telemetry: The CLI does not phone home or send usage data
  • No account required: You can use taracode without any registration
  • 100% local: All AI interactions happen on your machine via Ollama

1.2 Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be absolutely clear about what we do not collect:

  • Prompts or Conversations: We do not collect, store, or have access to the content of your prompts or AI-generated responses
  • Code or Files: We do not access or store your source code or files
  • LLM Responses: All AI interactions happen locally on your infrastructure
  • Usage Statistics: taracode does not send any usage data to our servers

1.3 Website (code.tara.vision)

When you visit the code.tara.vision website, we may collect:

  • Server Logs: Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited)
  • Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated website usage statistics

2. How We Use Information

Any information collected via the website is used solely for:

  • Improving the documentation and website
  • Understanding how visitors find and use our resources
  • Ensuring website security and preventing abuse

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Data

taracode stores all data locally on your machine in the ~/.taracode/ directory. This includes configuration, session history, and project memories. You have complete control over this data.

3.2 Website Security

The code.tara.vision website uses industry-standard security measures:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Regular security assessments
  • Secure hosting infrastructure

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. Since taracode is open source and runs locally, there is no user data to share. Website analytics are anonymous and aggregated.

5. Third-Party Services

taracode connects to services you configure locally:

  • Ollama: Local LLM server running on your machine
  • MCP Servers: Optional external integrations you configure (GitHub, PostgreSQL, etc.)

These connections are initiated by you and controlled by your configuration. We have no visibility into these connections.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data
  • Portability: Request transfer of your data
  • Objection: Object to certain processing activities

7. Data Retention

taracode stores all data locally on your machine. You control retention:

  • Local Data: Delete ~/.taracode/ at any time to remove all data
  • Website Logs: Server logs are retained for 30 days for security purposes

8. Cookies and Tracking

The code.tara.vision website uses minimal cookies for:

  • Essential website functionality
  • CSRF protection

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics that track individual users.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

10. International Data Transfers

If you are accessing the Service from outside the European Union, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the EU where our servers are located.
